Although chef Dennis Martinez’s background is in brewpubs (SanTan hired him away from Prescott Brewing Company in 2009), his passion is barbecue, and he’s gradually added a number of delicious house-smoked entrees – beef brisket, pulled pork, etc. – to the usual brewpub fare of burgers, sandwiches and pizzas. One James Beard Award-nominated chef from a well-known Mexican restaurant in the Valley was overheard remarking at a recent culinary fest, “His pork pibil is better than mine!” 8 S.
